Sometimes a task is best accomplished by an application that is designed solely for that purpose. For the simple task of burning an ISO image to optical media, there are few applications as simple to use, and as efficient, as Active ISO Burner.

Active ISO Burner is a simple application that allows you to burn an existing ISO image file to CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-RW, DVD-RW, DL DVD+RW, HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The program can also accept command line parameters, enabling you to automate ISO images burning process from batch files or other programs. Standalone application, no installation required.

The does exactly what it says. Burn ISO! Even if it’s small program, it has the ability to efficiently complete its tasks without any flaws. Other major brand programs bring to much junk and resource hog on your computer. So, if you want a good ISO burning utility, I highly recommend ActiveISO Burner.

Crunchyroll Sets DVD Release For 5cm Per Second

Crunchyroll Sets DVD Release For 5cm Per SecondIn last week's ANN Cast, Crunchyroll CEO Kun Gao revealed that the company would be working with ComixWave and Makoto Shinkai to release the movie 5cm Per Second onto DVD in the US. Crunchyroll has had a good relationship with ComixWave and Shinkai since early on and have run a couple of Shinkai appreciation days where his features have been available. This particular feature was one of the titles caught in the tailspin of ADV Films going under a couple of years ago and only got a somewhat limited release overall, though the product did ship and copies did reach retailers and fans. It simply didn't enjoy the push and spread that the previous features, Voices of a Distant Star and A Place Promised in Our Early Days did.

Crunchyroll recently had some polling up on their site asking about physical media releases, similar to how Viz Media and Crunchyroll were asking if fans wanted to see Bleach simulcast, and then had a planned release due out shortly thereafter, or at least an announcement. This feature is one that fans have been asking about for a bit as it was curiously absent from the way ADV Films hit its end of life, with some titles going to the Aesir Holdings, Sentai Filmworks and the large batch of Sojitz titles that went to FUNimation. This one was simply missing from most discussions until now.

The new dub as presented by Crunchyroll has been seen before, as part of their previous appreciation day and discussions on the casting started way back in the first quarter of 2009. The discussion by Pereyda about it is interesting to say the least, and a bit different from how other companies have handled this in the past, notably the recent re-dubbing of the Appleseed movie by Sentai Filmworks where they also included the original dub for it and the reasoning of providing continuity with the second film actually made sense.

Redubbing a movie that came out over three years ago and already has a dub has some fans questioning the business sense of it and the marketability without including the original if possible. The statements about the differences in approach between the two is just gasoline on the fire from dub fans who have certain expectations about the style in which a dub should be done. And as several have noted, the times that Japanese involvement, regardless of how well they speak English, have not resulted in a superior dubbing experience.

When it comes to the home video side of it, the push on the quality of the DVD isn't a surprise as they want to promote the best possible with it, but it as stated a DVD release at the end and many of the reasons come back to fears of reverse importation

Of a title that had a Blu-ray and HD-DVD release nearly 2 1/2 years ago. So it's already had a release for Region A, sans subtitles, and a completely region-free HD-DVD release. It's little wonder fans are calling shenanigans on this part of it, especially at a time of very rapidly falling hardware prices as the push for 3D hardware is growing for the Christmas season and fans are jumping on board with sub-$100 Blu-ray players.

And for the record, as pointed out by longtime reader Shiroi Hane, Manga Entertainment is set to release this movie on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK next spring, according to Amazon.

Sanyo Aims At Educators

Sanyo Aims At EducatorsSanyo has launched a space-saving Ultra Short Focus widescreen WXGA projector aimed at class rooms, lecture theatres and conference rooms.

The PLC-WL2500 Ultra Short Focus projector gives bright, dynamic widescreen projection in small to medium class rooms, lecture theatres and conference rooms, and  projects full 80 inch (diagonally) images from a distance of only 86 centimetres, allowing for large, crisp images in relatively small rooms.

The innovative design allows users to mount the PLC-WL2500 projector on a ceiling directly above the board reducing shadows and ensuring the presenter is not blinded by the light path – a common issue in classrooms and conference rooms.

The PCL-WL2500 features an impressive widescreen WXGA resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, which enables a 16:10 aspect ratio. It complements laptops and computers that use a W-XGA format. Additionally, an HDMI terminal ensures the projector is compatible with an expanding number of devices including portable video cameras, Blu-ray Disc players, HD DVD players and laptops.

A 10W loudspeaker is built into the body, and eliminates the extra cost and hassle of external loudspeakers, while high-brightness projection ensures crystal clear images making it easy to create memorable presentations, even in naturally light rooms.

The projector also features advanced technology enabling it to maintain and extend the life of the projector. With a lamp that has an extended lifespan, and a filter that does not need to be replaced until after approsimately 4000 hours of use, the projector reduces is also eco-friendly.

The PLC-WL2500 can also be conveniently controlled and maintained via a company network or via the internet using the wired LAN terminal. Once installed, users can receive email notifications of errors like a failed lamp or interrupted picture signal ensuring no time is wasted on fixing technical errors.

Sanyo says it is also quiet and discreet, emitting only 29 dB of operational sound (in eco mode). Additionally, the PLC-WL2500 is easily controlled via a remote control –and its cables can be stored inside a terminal cover.
